Gas Rush Stories, part 14: Organic Farmers

9 months ago by Kirsi Jansa

Pennsylvania is one of the biggest producers of organic food in the US. Shale gas drilling is dividing the farming community deeply: Some organic farmers support gas drilling and have gas leases, some would rather have nothing to do with drilling.
Gas Rush Stories visits two farmers, Maggie Henry and Stephen Cleghorn, who are trying to protect their farms from shale gas drilling. GRS also interviews Brian Snyder from Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), Lee Rinehart from PA Certified Organic, public health toxicologist David Brown from SW PA Environmental Health Project, professor Neil Donahue from Carnegie Mellon University, and Jeff Mott from Mott Family Farms.
