Gas Rush Stories, part 4: Public Servants

11 months ago by Kirsi Jansa

Gas Rush Stories, part 4: Public Servants is a story of money and politics.
Gas industry has donated millions of dollars to the legislature since 2001 and nearly 2 million to Governor Corbett. Couple hundred citizens representing several non-profit organizations spent a day in Harrisburg in June 2011 lobbying these legislators while they were in a process creating Act 13, a new oil and gas law in Pennsylvania.
“Politicians really understand two things: organized vote and organized money,” says Tom Hoffman from Clean Water Action.
What does he think of the pending legislation?
